FAQ's
Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about attending our churches.
What happens if I just turn up at church one Sunday?
You will be warmly greeted as you come in. You are free to sit anywhere you want to. There will be an Order of Service to guide you through the service. Relax. Listen and enjoy.
Is there a car park?
The Good Shepherd church has a free car park right next to the church. Just tumble out your car and go straight in to church!
Christ Church does not have a car park but there is a free car park available about 50 metres away in School Road,
I use a wheelchair, is there good access for me?
Yes definitely! Both churches have good access for wheelchair users. Our greeters will be very happy to provide any additional assistance if needed.
What do I wear?
Wear anything you are comfortable in. There are no rules and the attire will range from jeans and tee-shirt through to smart casual.
What if I don't know when to stand up or sit down during the service?
Nobody will mind. You will not cause any offence. Listen to the worship leader who usually invites the congregation to stand up or sit down as and when appropriate. Watch other members of the congregation and you will soon get the idea!
Do I have to take communion?
No you don't. You may stay in your seat or, if you wish, you may go up to the altar for a blessing.
Do I need some money for the collection.
No, not at all. There are many ways of contributing to our churches' life. Monetary gifts are always welcome but there are other ways to give. Help with gardening, with flower arranging, with setting out chairs, with serving teas/coffees etc. Offer your time and talents and they will be gratefully received.
I hear there is coffee, tea and biscuits after the service, am I invited?
Yes! Definitely. Please do join us for a natter afterwards. You will be very welcome indeed!
If you have any questions at all please email us at info@christchurchgoodshepherd.com and we will be happy to help.
